Despite being an "international" variety, which is native to France, Merlot has been present in the Kras/Carso regions of Slovenia and Italy for a long time. It expresses itself quite differently than in France or other regions. The limestone bedrock of Kras helps the wine maintain a vertical and fresh feeling.
This 2018 Merlot has bright red berry and plum fruit aromas, and the palate has a juicy, zesty freshness. Balanced tannins and a long finish. Best served with a plate of food or some delicious cheese and charcuterie.
