Coming from a plot of vines planted in Macon, this Chardonnay is deceptively fresh and salty. Agreat example of why long elevage adds so much intensity to the palate, and does wonders for wines, even coming from humble appellations. The touch of ripeness from the southern part of Burgundy is not lost, but this is far from a simple wine, and is guaranteed to keep you coming back for more!

Francois Morente

Newly established in Volnay, François Morente’s domaine blends art and science, drawing on his background as a physics and chemistry teacher and musician. Since starting winemaking as a hobby in 2014, François has crafted his first commercial vintage in 2022, focusing on high-density plantings with 10,000 vines per hectare in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. His hands-on, horse plowed vineyards, meticulous care, and drastic approach to disbudding, reflect his passion for precision and terroir. The wines of François are in incredibly limited supply and should not be overlooked if you can find a bottle available.
