Peter Lauer "Senior" Aylr Riesling No. 6 2021

At Weingut Peter Lauer in Ayl, Riesling is a five-generation tradition rooted in some of the Saar’s most revered steep slopes, including Ayler Kupp, Saarfeilser, and the dramatic Schonfels. The recently revived Lambertskirch vineyard reflects the Lauers’ deep connection to heritage and terroir. Since joining the VDP in 2013, the estate has earned recognition for precise, expressive dry and off-dry Rieslings, as well as elegant sparkling wines. Fermentation is spontaneous, using native yeasts from vineyard and cellar, and aging on the lees, with minimal intervention, adds depth and clarity. Organic viticulture, practiced without copper or heavy machinery, preserves biodiversity and soil health. The result is a range of Rieslings that capture the Saar’s cool climate, slate soils, and signature tension.
