Coming from 60 year old vines in a small clos, Clos Catherine gets its name from Katharina Wechsler who is selling the grapes to Nick. It's here that we understand the name for the project Wengerter (local dialect for winemaker) Und (German for And.) In speaking about this project, Nick is very greatful to the people along the way who have taught him and sold him grapes.

Silvaner in Baden-Württemberg is a little less austere than it's relatives in other parts of Germany. While the acidity is high, the wine is incredibly balanced. In the glass expect some lime and lemon with a backbone of creaminess that ties everything nicely together.

Wengerter Und

Wengerter Und

Wengerter Und, located in Schnait in the hills of Württemberg, is the new project from sommelier Nicholas Pratt. Coming from the US, Nick didn't always know he wanted to be a winemaker, but his time spent working throughout wineries in California and Washington eventually led him into gastronomy where he started to work as a sommelier. Fast forward some years and Nick moved to Berlin to follow his two passions, gastronomy and house music. (Nick is a killer DJ by the way!) Come 2020 and the temporary shut down of restaurants, Nick was left wondering what his future in wine might hold. If there was going to be a chance to take a big leap, it was now. A year practical at Odinstal showed him the insides of a biodynamic winery and from here the vision was born.

Nick has been able to slowly purchase some interesting vineyards around the village of Schnait and some other other plots in the Weinstadt. 2023 is his first release and offers us a peak into what is in store for his future. We're proud to call Nick a friend and proud to share these first wines with you.
