Madame Flöck

Madame Flöck Wines was founded by Robert Kane and Derek-Paul Labelle. Initially rivals, their shared passion for winemaking eventually led to a partnership. The idea for Madame Flöck Wines took shape during their time in Europe, where Robert met his future wife, Janina Schmitt, in Winningen, Mosel. This connection to the Mosel region inspired Robert and Derek to purchase their first vineyard there. The winery’s name honors the previous owner of their inaugural Mosel vineyard, Madame Flöck.

Despite their contrasting personalities, Robert and Derek share a mutual dedication to growing vines and crafting exceptional wines. Their collaboration has resulted in a winery that reflects both their shared vision and the unique characteristics of the Mosel region.

Madame Flöck specialises in natural winemaking, utilising wild fermentation, minimal sulfur additions, and avoiding filtration or fining. The aim is to produce wines that authentically express the terroir and individual vintage characteristics. They like to use old wood barrels for the aging of many of their cuvées, believing that the use of wood helps to round out the sharp edges of the acidity they get from their steep terraces.
